Frequently asked questions
Commercial or non-commercial use?
If you look for prods on Youtube you must have seen that many beatmakers put the mention [FREE] in their title. In the description it is often noted that the instrumental is "free for non-commercial use". This means that you use the instrumental for a track that will be broadcast for free. For example by spreading it on Soundcloud or Youtube (as long as monetization is not activated). Commercial use on the other hand means that you can earn money with your music. This is the case if you publish your sound on streaming platforms: Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music... or Youtube with monetization enabled. If you want to put your music on these platforms you have to buy a license. Buying a license for an instrumental means that you buy a right to use the beat but you don't buy it in itself!

In short:
- A free beat does not allow you to record quality tracks because of the format and audio tags
- A free beat does not allow you to stream and sell your music
- A free beat will mainly be used to make a demo to test your song before buying the instrumental
Finally, it's better not to try to slip through the net by selling a track recorded on a free beat because :
The beatmaker will know about it (Content ID will detect it immediately)
The beatmaker will be able to ask for compensation in court (the penalties range from 3750€ to 300 000€ in France)
What is the best choice among the 3 licenses we offer?
To be quite honest, the vast majority of people who buy instrumentals online choose the cheapest license. Unfortunately this license only brings limited audio quality and rather restricted broadcasting rights but that must be enough for them.
However the quality of audio files is an essential criterion to take into account in music, if you are serious about your career, stop using MP3s for your songs
The Premium WAV and Unlimited Trackouts licenses both guarantee you uncompressed and much richer WAV audio formats, these are the audio formats used in studio
If I buy a license for an instrumental and someone else buys the exclusivity afterwards, what happens?
Nothing! When you buy a license for a beat, your rights of use are guaranteed by contract. So you are allowed to publish your track even if the exclusivity is sold afterwards.clusivity then what happens?
